Social Media Marketing Jargon

Google Buys Wildfire
If you are an avid blogger or just enjoy to blog every now and then at one point in your life you'll find that you have absolutely nothing to talk about. It seems like everything you feel like saying has already been said by someone else, so what fun is  it for you to basically reiterate what someone else is saying. What makes a blogger unique is usually their point of view on a subject or talking about something that no one else is. As an internet marketer there's a fountain of subjects out their to discuss. If you want to talk about the big social media companies you have Facebook and their issues with their IPO, you have Google who's buying Wildfire and the interesting part about that is that wildfire's profit depends on Facebook's success (in a way). So it's safe to say that Google now depends on their direct competitor Facebook's success. Well, if you ask me that says Google knows they are here for the long run, and since they can't take them over, they might as well make some coin off them in one way or another. What will Facebook's next step be? Will they develop their own search engine? I myself have a fantastic idea for a search engine for Facebook, whether I get their attention with it or not, who's to know, whether they are going that direction, who knows as well. Right now Facebook uses Bing as a search engine provider. But based on the problems with the Facebook IPO and the fact that they are looking to strengthen their income streams I truly believe that it is imperative that they have a search engine. What kind of names can you think of for a Facebook Search Engine? Facebook is grand, yes, Facebook is here to stay, yes, but Facebook needs to have a better paid advertising program in order to get good conversion rates. As it is, Google leads the industry in conversion rates, as they should, when someone goes to Google they are specifically looking for something. When people are on Facebook they are being social, and advertisers happen to be using their information to target them with something they "think" the user may want.

Attraction Marketing Wins
To change the pace and go briefly into marketing itself I would like to talk about something called Attraction Marketing. If you don't know what attraction marketing is well, I don't know what to tell you :). Read the phrase, attraction marketing. Yes, you are attracting customers to you. Attraction Marketing is done through places like Facebook, Google+, Blogger, TV, pretty much everywhere!!! Attraction Marketing is key to bringing business and interest to you. Remember these key elements.

1. Build Trust: If the people that follow you, or hear you, or are attempting to hear your message don't trust you, then you are digging a deep hole and you might as well throw the dirt over your own head. Common mistakes people make is going to places like Facebook and posting spam links in groups, pages, and on their own wall. Is it okay to promote your business? Yes, absolutely it is, that is what it's all about for some people. But the way in which you take on this process is the most important. You first must develop interest in you through your followers. Don't post spam links, just briefly mention your business but talk more about your family, your travels, your achievements, events you're attending, etc... If you have someone's attention then they will search you out to see what you do. For years now all I do is talk to people about common interests. They can't help but be curious about what I do, therefore attracting them to find out more.

2. Cultivate Relationships: Show interest in people, care about what they think, know who you are dealing with. Whether it's one person or 20,000. It's important that your communication is positive, don't ever dwell on negative issues that may be going on in your life. Don't try to get people to feel sorry for you, even if you feel they should. I myself have never shown emotion other than excitement and ambition. Actually more than just those two but I'm just being general, never at any time have I shown if there's problems at home, or if there's someone bothering me, etc... That would be like Pepsi, talking about the fact that they are tired of hearing all the negative Coke lovers bash on their product. You don't hear that from Pepsi, I'm sure all companies and people at one point are sick of some of the whining and bad talk but they don't show it. If they did then they are showing an emotion that no one wants to see from the positive side of the spectrum. Just remember to cultivate relationships for your business always be positive, show strength, excitement, compassion, empathy, and relationships will build.

3. Developing Curiosity: If people are not curious about something then they usually don't seek more information about it unless told to or ordered to. Therefore of course the key to attraction marketing, develop curiosity! Here's a good example. You own a shoe store in downtown New York City. Usually you blend in and theirs specific people that know about your product and service. The obvious key is to get even MORE people to learn about your product and service. Through networking online (Facebook, Google+, and other SMM) you will develop an attraction marketing campaign. Your campaign is designed to develop curiosity. Whether you are giving away a pair of high priced shoes, or you are going to donate shoes to a third world country, you are going to attract people based on one or the other. Charity work attracts those who like doing good, and want to give business to those doing good. It involves sharing which can take a product or service viral and this is where more people learn about it. Doing basic giveaway's is done everyday in every business and it brings people for the free prize. However, when I talk about developing curiosity do something unique, something that is going to stand out, something that no one else is doing, or something that is going to get great attention and respect from your customers, something that is going to get everyone in your target markets attention in one way, shape or form, in a positive way!

I hope you enjoyed this SMM Jargon that I decided to write this morning. I basically found myself awake at 3:30am with an awesome lightning storm outside that was lighting up the sky every few seconds. Decided to jump on the laptop and write a bit while I watched the lightning. I didn't know what I was going to say I just knew that something would end up coming out. As I stated at the beginning of the blog, sometimes you can't think of anything to write about, but all the sudden it can start flowing out from all directions and you have no idea where the blog is going. Have a great day!!!

Facebook Suit n Such

Mark Zuckerberg
It's all over the news, twitter, even Facebook. The hype surrounding the IPO has quickly turned to rubble as shareholders are now suing Facebook banks over a botched IPO.

I heard rumors that at the closing of the IPO on day one Facebook banks were buying stock in order to save the company from "embarrassment". HOWEVER... who would think that a bank would lie? I mean really especially over money? Duh, this isn't a surprise is it?

Reuters recently reported that shareholders have filed a lawsuit early this morning in a Manhattan Federal Court. In a nutshell the suit is over Facebook hiding or "concealing" weak growth forecasts and reports in turn leading to shareholders obviously paying too much for shares on opening day. A last minute decision by the Facebook CEO deciding to increase the amount of stock offered by 25% was a blunder.

Mark Zuckerberg himself is also accused in this suit. Here's my personal opinion. Do you remember the movie Social Network? In the movie there's a seen where Sean Parker (napster) tells Mark Zuckerberg the following statement. "Making a million dollars is alright, but making a billion dollars..." I think once Mark himself realized the wealth and value of Facebook that number simply changed by a couple zero's. I heard well before the offering that Mark wanted the company to offer at a value of over one hundred billion dollars. When the initial offering was going to be made Mark noticing that the value was more like seventy or eighty billion simply pushed the banks and his own CEO to make that nice crisp looking number of $100,000,000,000 (this is just a hunch).

From a personal standpoint and from reading many and I do mean "many" articles about the Facebook IPO. I believe the future growth potential and investment opportunities with Facebook are great. We all know it's only going to get better from here, at least for the next few years. And if Facebook can penetrate the Asian markets and figure out search traffic this is a company that can surpass Apple and be worth over five hundred billion dollars pretty easily. So far however... They are off to a bit of a bad start.

2012 - Not end of World?

As posted by USA Today, more Mayan Calendars have been discovered. The findings of these calendars show that they go well beyond December 21'st 2012. Archaeologists say that they have found lunar symbols and writings that go as far as 3500AD and beyond. These calendars were discovered in the ruins of Xultin by William Saturno of Boston University. The next big marketing question is this. What's going to happen to all the marketing ploys that are taking advantage of "the end of the world Dec. 21 2012" campaign? What will be their response to this finding? I can tell you this, as sourced in a recent blog I posted about the end of the world I simply posted a funny picture that shows they simply ran out of room on the current calendar and that's why the date did not go past 2012. As it is in the world of irony now there's scientific proof that show other findings and dates going beyond 2012. For more information about this finding simply visit the full story at the USA Today website.

Social Media Average Time on Site

A recent study conducted by the Wall street Journal
Social media has taken the internet by storm in the last decade. Facebook has proven to be the Giant of our time in 2012 topping over 800 million active users. I've heard stats from Google+, Pinterest, and other social networking sites about how many active users they have but the question I have is this. How long is the average user spending on the site? As an internet marketer and having a million social networks to choose from and use it seems daunting to have to have so many different SMM (Social Media Marketing) accounts. So I decided to do some research and I thought I would share it with the masses (or those that would like to know the recent study). A recent study conducted by the Wall Street Journal says Facebook tops the polls with it's average user spending 405 minutes of engagement on the website. That's almost 7 hours per visit! Next in line we have a tie for second. Blogging social network tumblr and the new interest pinning site called Pinterest. I've personally found and seen great results already from Pinterest. Meanwhile twitter and Linkedin are 4'th and 5th in line with 21 minutes for twitter and 17 minutes for Linkedin. MySpace is struggling at 8 minutes (I didn't event know it still existed) and Google+ is struggling to get just 5 minutes of a users time (Personally I use Google+ for about 20 to 30 minutes each visit, but then again I use a lot of Google Products so it easily syncs with my blogger, and other SMM options that I work on. All text links on this page are directed to my personal profiles for those accounts that I do use and the SMM links will take you to the Social Media Marketing section of my website. Lawyers Joke Book

How many lawyer jokes are there? Only three. The rest are true stories.

Yes, and what do lawyers and bullfrogs have in common? Both have a big head that consists mainly of mouth.

What can you say about 1,300 lawyers buried up to their necks in cement? Not enough cement.

What's the difference between a vulture and a lawyer? The vulture doesn't get frequent-flier miles.

How does an attorney sleep? First he lies on one side. Then he lies on the other.

How do you get a group of lawyers to smile for a picture? Just say "Fees!"

What do you throw to a drowning lawyer? His partners.

What's the difference between a lawyer and a liar? Pronunciation.

What does a lawyer get when you give him Viagra? Taller.

What's the difference between a lawyer and a catfish? One is a bottom-feeding scum-sucker. The other is a fish.

Did you hear about the new sushi bar that caters exclusively to lawyers? It's called Sosumi.

What is the difference between baseball and law? In baseball, if you're caught stealing, you're out.

Do you know what's wrong with lawyer jokes? Lawyers don't think they're funny, and everyone else thinks they're not jokes.

San Saturio, Soria Spain

San Saturio, Soria Spain
San Saturio in Soria Spain is a local attraction. No one would think it but believe it or not monks still live in this location. There's caves leading into the mountain side and connecting to this amazing building. When you look at the building from this view you're suppose to be able to see San Saturio himself. If you didn't know about this amazing place in the world I myself can tell you it's a site to see and visit. I've visited this place two times in my life and can't wait to get back to see it again!

Virginia City Flats

Virginia City Flats

Inside the main building
This structure goes underground for stories upon stories and is an amazing feat that it still stands. It was a mine in it's time. This place is closed down to tourists due to the fact with several unsafe locations but it is worth sharing and knowing about none the least. Do ignore the graffiti that makes it look bad and takes away the historical value that it should have. Legends say that the flats is haunted, I don't know about this nor can I say it is or isn't. The one time I visited this location I was overwhelmed with the size and amount of cement that was used to construct it. Imagine building something like this in the early to middle 1800's. It's just an amazing place and worth spreading the word about for those adventurers out there.
